Cautery Tool

I use the cautery tool to burn the shucks on the end of many of my patterns. With crystal flash just take a few strands and twist them together and clasp a pair of english hackle pliers at the correct length to keep the flash from burning to far. Try thihs with Midge Diamond Braid as well without the need for twisting. I also use this to melt my Vince Wilcox's Nymph Tubing for eyes on many of my patterns like my MIcro Mayflies, Micro Midges, and the Bevo series of Caddis as well as for the eyes on the Rapunzel! Much more accurate than trying to use a lighter, nothing is worse than finishing a fly off and setting it on fire!
